Aira has developed an educational application aimed at providing insights into various types of eye diseases. The objective of this initiative is to advance cutting-edge technology and services that facilitate the elimination of existing obstacles faced by visually impaired individuals, thereby enhancing their ability to lead more confident and independent lives. In the United States alone, an estimated 28 million people experience varying degrees of blindness or low vision, from partial central vision loss to total blindness.
The application employs camera technology combined with specialized filters to simulate prevalent eye diseases. Currently, the app offers simulation support for the following conditions:
- Bardet Biedle Syndrome (BBS)
- Cataracts
- Corneal Dystrophy
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Glaucoma
- Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA)
- Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON)
- Macular Degeneration
- Neuromyelitis Optica (Devic’s Disease)
- Optic Nerve Hypoplasia
- Optic Neuritis (Neuropathy)
- Retinal Detachment
- Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP)
- Stargardt Disease
